Blantyre Relais & Chateaux is as romantic country house hotel is set amidst 117 acres of lush lawns and woodlands in the beautiful Berkshires of Western Massachusetts. A Tudor style house built in 1902 is resplendent with period furnishings and sumptuous fabrics. A relaxing retreat with a professional, caring and friendly staff. Award winning food, wine list and spa. A getaway for all seasons…summer music festivals, splendid fall leaves, winter wonderland with ice skating, snowshoeing and 105’Christmas tree all on property. Blantyre is equidistant between NYC and Boston.
With its lovely leaded glass windows, richly burnished woods and luxurious fabrics, the inside of Blantyre is exactly what you would expect upon seeing the outside of the building. In the Main House there are overstuffed chairs, fresh flowers, a light-filled music room and rooms for private dining — all designed with the comfort of our guests in mind. The heart of the house, the baronial Main Hall on the first floor, is an eclectic mix of period pieces, treasured heirlooms, and enchanting art specially assembled under owner Ann Fitzpatrick Brown’s and her mother Jane’s discerning eyes.
Eight exquisite guest bedrooms and suites, many with fireplaces, all with their own unique personality, are located on the second floor. A favorite of many guests, the Crimson Suite is richly decorated in shades of cream, beige, and crimson, with fine damasks and silk. In the bedroom, a cloud-soft, king-sized bed is perfectly placed in the wide bay of windows and flanked by a handsome desk.
One of the wonderful things about Blantyre is that every room has a distinct personality all its own. The Blue Room – with its soft blue color, painted furniture, and generously curtained and ruffled double windows with a grand view of our rolling lawns – provides a soothing and peaceful retreat.
Dining is a very special event at Blantyre. Late every afternoon, the Main House undergoes a lovely transformation as we prepare for the delightful dining experience to come that evening. Linens are brought out, tables are set with sterling silver, fine china, crystal, and fresh flowers. Beautiful music fills the air and candles are lit. Under the knowing eye of Chef Arnaud Cotar, the kitchen is a hive of activity as the finest ingredients are used to create a memorable, outstanding dining experience.
When you arrive, you can enjoy a pre-dinner glass of Champagne and canapés on the Covered Terrace or in the Main Hall, or sample one of our rich red wines in the Music Room.
Most evenings our wonderful pianist Karen Tchougourian is playing in our music room. When your first course is ready our host will escort you to the dining room where your delicious dinner begins.
