The Springbrook Mountain plateau is located south of Brisbane and inland from the Gold Coast, high in the McPherson Range (world famous for the Lamington National Park). Access is via either Mudgeeraba or Nerang and Murwillumbah over the New South Wales border via Numinbah Valley where the Natural Bridge section of the Springbrook National Park is found. The other Parks, accessed from the plateau, offer half and full day walks in the rainforest, with spectacular waterfalls and lookouts.

Springbrook has a range of accommodation from self-contained cottages to full-board establishments. For backpackers there is a YHA hostel to which pre-booked Gold Coast transfers are available.

There is also a variety of eating places from licensed and BYO restaurants to tearooms and a small shop with takeaways, basic provisions and petrol. Galleries featuring pottery and other arts and crafts are scattered over the mountain.

The National Parks are World Heritage listed for the unique diversity of plant and animal life as well as its geological formation of the northern edge of the now extinct Mt Warning volcano.

To appreciate the natural beauty of Springbrook, a few days stay is recommended anytime of the year. In autumn the waterfalls are at their best, winter is perfect for clear days and relaxing around the fire at night and spring brings out the birds and flowers. Not so well known, summer is up to eight degrees cooler than on the coast.
